Inaugural Chair Don Mackinnon has stepped down from the role as Board Chair of the Sport Integrity Commission Te Kahu Raunui (the Commission).

Don has been a key figure in the area of sport integrity over many years. These contributions have ranged from performing organisational reviews, leading the Integrity Working Group which made recommendations to Parliament regarding the creation of the Commission, chairing the establishment committee in the Commission’s transition phase and playing a key role in the passage of its empowering legislation.

Since chairing the Commission from 1 July 2024, he has overseen not only the establishment of the Commission itself, but also the introduction of the first Integrity Code for Sport and Recreation. The Commission acknowledges the work Don has put into the role and thanks him for his invaluable contributions and leadership.

Experienced director and current board member Traci Houpapa MNZM has been appointed interim Chair while the process of appointing a permanent Chair takes place.
