The Sport Integrity Commission Te Kahu Raunui welcomes New Zealand Ultimate and SkateNZ, the latest organisations to formally adopt the Code for Integrity in Sport and Recreation (Integrity Code) effective today.
The Integrity Code is a framework of minimum standards that aim to make sport and recreation safer and fairer for everyone in Aotearoa. The minimum standards help organisations prevent and respond to harmful behaviours, and address integrity issues consistently, whether they happen at local clubs or national organisations.
By adopting the Code, both national sporting organisations affirm their commitment to strengthening integrity standards across their communities and making sure that everyone who participates can do so in safe, fair and respectful environments.
Roger Boulcott, President of SkateNZ was excited about the impact in Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond.
“This is exciting times for sport in New Zealand, and SkateNZ are very proud of ourselves for leading the way with integrity and ensuring our environments are safe and fair. By adopting the Integrity Code, we are doing the right thing by all our skating participants with this enhanced approach to sporting culture. We anticipate this will become the standard across the sport and recreation sector, and that world sporting bodies will also take notice of our important and progressive integrity work.”
Rebecca Rolls, CE of the Sport Integrity Commission Te Kahu Raunui, said the move reflects growing sector-wide leadership and alignment around integrity expectations.
