Consultation has closed

Public consultation on the draft version of Aotearoa New Zealand’s first Integrity Code has now closed.

Throughout the consultation, New Zealanders from across the sport and recreation sector have attended Integrity Code webinars, hui and talanoa, made use of the extensive consultation resources, and shared comprehensive and insightful feedback.

We’d like to thank every person and organisation who has contributed to this important mahi. Your actions have made a difference, even those as simple as asking a good question or sharing news of the consultation with your colleagues and peers.

The Integrity Code will be a key tool to lift integrity standards across the sport and recreation sector. We’re heartened by the positive reception the draft received, and the valuable suggestions from the community that will help us to improve it.

What happens next

Analyse feedback

The first step is to analyse each piece of feedback. We’ll use this information to see how we can improve the Integrity Code before it’s finalised.

Publish a summary of submissions

Once we’ve analysed and understood the responses we’ve received, we’ll draw together a summary of submissions and publish it on our website.

We’ll also keep updating you – and everyone who made a submission – as the process moves along.

Finalise and issue the Integrity Code

Depending on the feedback we receive, we plan to finalise and issue the Integrity Code in early 2025. At this point, organisations can get in touch with us to let us know they want to start the adoption process.

We’ll provide guidance on what that will look like closer to the time, and we’ll make resources available to help organisations assess where they are, what they need to do before initiating the adoption process, and to support organisations through the process.

In the meantime, keep an eye on our website for updates, or subscribe to our newsletter.

And although consultation has closed, we want to keep hearing from you. If you have questions or comments on the draft Integrity Code or the consultation process, please get in touch at [email protected].
